01 / The problem
Indian menswear got stuck on repeat
Indian fashion has never been short on creativity. But when it comes to men, the choices somehow got smaller.
Women can shop Indian wear based on their style, mood, colour and occasion. There are endless combinations to choose from- different silhouettes, prints, fabrics, sets, layers and looks.
Men are often given a much shorter list.
Wedding? Kurta.
Festival? Kurta.
Big occasion? Kurta and jacket.
And that's about it.
We don't think that's enough.
Not for men who care about how they dress. Not for a country with this much colour, craft and design. And definitely not for a generation that wants Indian wear to be part of their wardrobe - not just something they pull out when an invitation arrives.
Men don't need less Indian fashion. They need more of it.
02 / The origin
We started abroad. Now we have come home.
Desiqlo began at desiqlo.com, shipping Indian wear to people who had moved away from it. London, Dubai, Toronto, Sydney. Building it taught us something we did not expect. The complaint was never availability. It was range.
Desiqlo started with that simple observation.
When started selling to outside of India, we understood that finding Indian wear wasn't the difficult part. Finding something people actually wanted to wear was.
The choices felt limited. The same familiar styles. The same occasion-led shopping. The same handful of options that showed up again and again.
And the more we looked, the more obvious it became:
Indian men were not short of occasions. They were short of choice.
So we started Desiqlo to bring more of Indian fashion to people living away from home.
From London to Dubai. Toronto to Sydney.
Along the way, we kept hearing the same thing:
“Is this really all there is?”
That question stayed with us.
Because if men everywhere were asking for more choice, what about the place where Indian fashion should have the most to offer — India itself?
So we came home.
Desiqlo India is our answer.

Built by people who kept running into the problem
Desiqlo was founded by women who grew up in India, built careers across the world, and experienced Indian fashion from both sides.
We loved Indian clothes. We loved the colour, the craft, the prints and the feeling of wearing something that felt like home.
But we kept running into the same frustration.
Why is there so much choice for women, and so little for men?
Why should a man have to wait for a wedding to dress up? Why should Indian wear mean choosing between the same few silhouettes? And why should looking good in Indian clothes require so much planning?
We didn't think it should.
So instead of waiting for the category to change, we decided to build something we wanted to shop from ourselves.
A place with more styles to discover. More colours to choose from. More occasions to dress for. And clothes that feel Indian without feeling like hard work.
We bring a global perspective, but our starting point is simple:

Fashion does not only begin in Paris
It also begins in a workshop in Jaipur, a block printing unit in Kutch, a studio outside Surat. Rooms full of people who have worked with textile for generations and are now cutting it into shapes their grandfathers would not recognise.
Independent designers and small manufacturers who make brilliant clothing and have no way to put it in front of you. We go looking, we curate hard, we bring it to one place.
